Jake and Matt opened their eyes to see that they were hitting the snowy branches from the pine trees next to them.  They both hit the last branch and fell into a cold pool of water with a thin layer of ice on top of it.  Tyler landed behind Matt after a couple of seconds later.
"Crap, I can't swim!"  Matt shouted.
Tyler put the knife in his back pocket and swam over to Matt, and helped him reach the shore.  Jake swam to shallow water where he was able to stand.  He then stumbled out of the freezing cold water and landed on the pure white snow.  The blood was washed off his face and his shirt was see though.  He clenched and lifted a chunk of the white solid liquid, and let it fall off the palm of his hand.
"Snow?"  Jake said in question.
Tyler dropped Matt on the floor and collapsed in the snow.  "What just happened?  Someone please just tell me, what on freaking earth just happened?"  Tyler gasped after he finished his sentence.
All three of them were panting and didn't have the energy to even get up.  They just rolled on their backs and started sweating on the frozen, mushy floor.
"I have no idea."  Matt replied.  "How did we get here anyways?  We just fell off a cliff
into green trees, and now were in a snowy landscape area."  He paused.  "What is going on?"
Tyler grabbed a ball of snow and shoved it in his mouth, "I have no idea what's going on, but this snow tastes so good."  Tyler sounded stoned.
Matt grabbed a ball of snow too and shoved it in his mouth.  "Oh my dog, dude your so right!"  Matt sounded stoned as well.
"I told you, this snow is so awesome!"
"It is so totally awesome."  Matt replied.
"YEA!"  Tyler shouted in excitement.
All three of them laughed and started eating snow.
'about time someone put some laughter in this odd adventure.'  Jake was staring at the cloudy sky through the trees as he started eating snow.  He was brainless, not even thinking of anything.  The clouds dispersed for a while and he saw many constellations of stars.  This was the first time he saw stars on this endless journey.  There was a constellation that looked like an arrow, he thought of Brandon at first, but he looked closer and saw it was and arrow pointing behind him.  He lifted his head up to see what was behind him, a open snowy trail led into the woods.  He had the feeling that this path was going to be better than all the others they have taken.
He didn't have the energy to even speak.  The landscape was covered in pure white snow, white covered the trees and ice sickles hanged off the pine needles.  Some trees were green, and some trees were dead.  He looked over at Matt and Tyler who were still eating snow, Jake took a handful and ate some more.  He was happy to drink the melted snow.
They continued that for a couple minutes and Jake finally had the energy to speak.
"Guys."
They both looked over at Jake.
"There's a path."  He pointed his finger to the snow covered path.  "Right there."
There eyes glazed over to the trail and felt like it was safe for some reason.
"Well, why are we waiting?"  Matt said as he stood up.  He helped Jake up and let Tyler help himself up.
They walked on the trail that led into yonder.  They were finally able to see the clouds and stars, the forest was less dense and they were able to look into the sky from time to time.  It was only a one way trail that was covered in snow, for some reason they weren't even cold.  Matt asked Jake several questions, like, "Do you know where we are?"
Jake lied, "I truly don't really know where we are."
Matt paused and kept asking questions while they were walking along the snowy trail.  Jake summed up almost all of Matt's questions in one long reply.
"Well I changed my mind on where we are, I think we are in hell, or somewhere in between hell and earth.  Yes, I do believe that we are dead, I'm not sure how we died though.  I think we are in hell because of the monsters we've encountered.  Yes, I truly believe that was Brandon, how do you think he knew Clair.  I'm not sure who the man who killed Brandon was, but we know that he IS trying to kill us.  And to most of your other questions, I don't have an answer for them.
Matt stood there thinking, it seemed like it made sense to him.  But not for Tyler.
Tyler kept arguing about Jake's theories about everything that Matt asked.  After when Jake and Matt stopped talking, Tyler thought to himself about what he should do with the knife that the man gave him.
'Should I toss it?  Or does he actually want me to kill someone?'  Tyler thought.  Tyler started to think deep dark thoughts.  The ideas he made shrouded his imagination and he started saying, "worship." out loud so the others could hear him.  He started thinking what would happen if he killed Matt.  When Matt and Jake weren't looking, he pulled out the knife and started playing with it.  He made silent stabbing motions behind Matts back, and would often rub the knife against his skin.  When they were climbing up a cliff, Tyler cut his thumb and blamed that a rock split it open.  He tasted his blood and wanted more.  He scratched himself with his nails and drew the star of satin all over his arm.  He started mumbling to himself, and he also started cutting his leg with the knife several times.  He then was about to cut his wrist until Matt turned around.  Tyler quickly put the knife away in his front pocket.
"Are you okay Tyler?"  Matt asked.
Jake climbed on top of a rock and turned to see that Tyler's leg was bleeding.  "Tyler!  What happened to you leg?"
"Oh, uh, nothing, I just accidently cut myself."  He lied.
Matt glanced over and saw that his jeans were never ripped.  "Tyler, your jeans aren't ripped, at all.  Are you sure your okay?  Were hearing you talk to yourself too."
"I'm sure I'm fine."  He replied.
Matt was worried but with a questioned face.  He approached Tyler but he pushed Matt away.
"Dude, what's your deal?"  Matt asked.
"Just don't come near me!"
"I'm just seeing if your okay."
"I SAID, DON'T COME NEAR ME!"  Tyler put his hand in his front pocket ready to
pull out the knife.
"Tyler, what's in your pocket?"  Matt questioned.
"If you come any closer I WILL kill you!"
"Tyler!  Calm down and tell me, what's in your pocket?"  He asked again.  There was a silence, the only noise in the back round was a calm wind noise that gently pushed the trees.
"I want you dead."  Tyler whispered.
"What did you say?"
"I WANT YOU TO DIE!"  Tyler screamed and kicked Matt to the ground.
Matt fell back and saw Tyler pull out a rusty knife from his pocket.
"NO!"  Jake screamed.  He jumped off the boulder and dashed towards Matt.
Matt kicked his foot at Tyler hoping he would knock the air out of him, but instead Tyler grabbed Matt's foot and made a deep cut in his ankle.  Matt screamed in pain as Tyler walked up to Matt and stomped on his stomach.  Drops of blood came out of his mouth and he lost his breath.  Jake rushed in and pushed Tyler backwards.  Tyler stood his ground and saw that Jake was about to knock the knife out of his hand.  Jake failed and Tyler swung the knife at Jake's chest.  He dodged it and countered by punching Tyler's chest and kneeing his gut.  Tyler lost his breath and coordination as he stumbled backwards.  He cussed at Jake and threw the dull knife at him, he then charged at Jake running right behind the spinning airborne knife.  Jake pushed the knife to the side with the back of his left palm, making it shatter as it hit the tree right next to him.  Tyler made a war cry as he tackled Jake to the ground.  He raised his fist about to pound Jake's head in, until Matt interrupted by punting Tyler's face with his right foot.  He then fell to the ground as his left ankle bled.  Tyler flew back with a bloody nose.  He got up and screamed, "You will DIE!".  Tyler then ran off into the woods laughing as he said, "You're gonna die!  You're gonna die!".  He sounded like a five year old picking on another kid.  Tyler disappeared in the darkness of the forest, and his voice silently echoed off the tree's until Jake and Matt were unable to hear him.
"Are you okay!?" Jake asked Matt as he helped him up.
"Ow!"  Matt wailed, he continued replying to Jake's question.  "No not really, I think it's a deep cut."
Jake told him to get on his back.
"I think I'm a bit heavy for you to carry me."  Matt explained.
"I can handle it, trust me."  He smiled and stuck his hand out.
Matt grabbed his hand and got on his back.  "Thanks."  He said.
"No problem."  Jake was happy that Matt didn't argue anymore.
They both didn't miss Tyler, they were also trying to get the image of him out of their heads.  They didn't miss his dirty blonde hair with his brown eyes and white shirt, they never missed his attitude too.
Matt's blood sank into his black shoes, Jake felt the blood behind him and grabbed Matt's ankle and applying pressure.  His strong, thick arms leaned on Jake's head, resting.  Matt was strong for his age, but he always felt older for some reason.  His brown shaggy hair with a hint of black went well with his blue eyes.
Jake had short brown hair that went down to his temples.  He was somewhat strong but looked weak.  He was still wearing the white shirt with the giant blood stain on the back, the shirt was still see though but he was okay with it.  He was also wearing black shoes too, with a pair of
black Jeans.  They both didn't know where the clothes came from in the first place, but they were glad they had it.
Matt was wearing a black and blue shirt, with a pair of dark blue jeans.  They both joked around for awhile and they also complained too, and made a normal, typical conversation as they walked up hill.  Matt asked the question if they'll survive, Matt already knew what the answer was but the wanted Jake to say yes.
Jake replied saying, "I don't really know.  Brandon somehow survived, maybe we will.  But I truly don't have any hopes for that."
"Jake?"
"Yea?"
"Just say yes."
Jake paused his thoughts as he kept walking forward.  "Yea, we will live."  He knew Matt didn't want to die, Jake didn't want to die ether.
It made them feel comfortable thinking that they will live.
The hill stopped rising and went straight to flat land.  Jake and Matt emerged out of the forest to see a giant frozen lake, it extended out to the other side of the woods which looked like half a mile long.  The clouds fully dispersed overhead and stars filed the dark blue sky.  Blue and red shaded thunder heads were behind the scenery of the lake, with a shine of light behind the clouds.  Shooting stars passed by as Matt and Jake took the view in.
"Wow."  Jake was speechless.
"This is incredible."  Matt added.
The ice mad e a perfect reflection of everything that was painted in the sky.
"Jake set me down, I think I can walk."
Jake doubted  it, "Are you sure?"
"Yea, do it."
Jake set Matt down slowly, he was somehow dealing with the pain in his ankle as he put his foot on the floor.
"Okay, thanks dude."  Matt said.
"Sure."
Matt started to take his shirt off.
"What are you doing?"  Jake asked in awkward curiosity.
"Well, you were putting pressure on my ankle that entire time when you were walking, right?"  He bent down and wrapped his shirt around his ankle.
"Yea, right."
"So if I'm going to keep walking, I need to keep applying pressure so I won't bleed to death."  He started to tie the shirt tightly around his ankle.  "Do you see where im going with this?"  He asked as he pulled the knot shut around his ankle.
"Yea, now I know."  Jake stood there and watched Matt move his ankle around.  Matt had the look on his face like he wanted to say something.
"Do you want to say something?" Jake asked.
"Actually, yes, I was going to ask something."  He softly giggle to himself. "Ok, so you said this might be hell right?"
"Yea, I did."  Jake replied.
"So what do you think that is, across that lake?"  He pointed towards the colored clouds in the sky across the lake.
Jake looked over and saw that there was light on the other side.  "I don't know, heaven maybe."
"Yea I thought the same thing too."
"And what are you trying to tell me now?"
"Well."  Matt paused and noticed that the human like demons were popping out of the forest.  "I think we should run for it."
"Dude, run for it?  Are you crazy, look at the ice, it looks thin."
"Yea that's why I got off your back in the first place.  But this might also be the only chance we get, before we walk back into the forest, and before the landscape changes.  So I believe that heaven is on the other side of this lake.  And I'm saying that because this is the first time we've seen light in go-" Matt stopped himself and saw all the demons poking out of the trees, Jake saw them too.
"Don't say the word."  Jake reminded Matt.
"Yea, don't want that happing again.  But anyways, I think we need to take this chance and run for it."
"Are you sure Matt?"  Jake asked.
The demons started whispering to each other, some of them even cried out.  Most of them starred off into the light and the lake.
"Yea, im' pretty sure."  Matt replied.
Jake thought for a moment as he looked at the frozen lake.  "I'm in." He concluded.
"Awesome!"  Matt patted Jake's shoulder and continued, " I'm not sure if we'll even make it, but I don't want to enter this forest again."  He pointed his thumb towards the snow forest, knowing what would happen if they would enter again.
"Okay."  Matt raised his hand up and about to count down.  "On my mark."
Jake nodded and thought of the consequences of death that could occur while they were going to run across the lake.  The demons cried in Joy and some Jumped out of the trees about to run for it too.
"Three."
The creatures came out of the forest behind them and snarled.
"Two."
Jake warmed himself up for the mad dash and nodded in anxiety, knowing that he might die.
"One."
"SAY GO ALREADY!"  Jake shouted.
"GO!'

So theres your summary of whats to come in this series i'm starting :D
This is just the prologue to give you an understanding on how the environment around them works, and who the antagonist are. The begging doesn't sound really good (in my opinion) but it gets better as the story moves on. :)

Also this was written in Fall of 2011 and this was also a school project (i over did it) and some parts in the story are rushed. sorry for grammar and random misspelling, im trying my best, I hope you enjoy :D
